Ethernet connects then drops on repeat?

Hi wondering if anyone can help with the above issue please? So the ethernet connects for 3seconds then disconnects for 30seconds then repeats. It happens randomly every now and then (about 2months ago was the last time). I've tried multiple ethernet cables, diagnosing network problems, restarting adapter, network reset, restarting router and calling my internet provider. I've tried doing the various command prompts suggested in other threads (causes it to connect for maybe 5seconds then disconnects again).
