Auto-brightness keeps changing, but it says I don't have adaptive brightness

I've been experiencing this issue for a long time now, where my laptop changes brightness depending on the display that's on the screen. However, every time I try and fix this all of the tutorials tell me to go to the Intel Command Center or check my display settings, but I can't seem to find anything that I'm looking for. So, even though my laptop does not say anything about adaptive brightness anywhere and won't let me change it, It still changes anyways. I'm not sure where else I need to be looking or how to fix this at all.
