Guest Will Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 my updates have stopped installing I have 94 and none will install but they download fine. can anyone help it is driving me nuts! also the second computer in the house has stopped installing them now?
Guest Engel Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 For XP Only 1.- Use the belt-and-suspenders mode. Make a Restore Pºint. 2.- Please confirm your system clock, and Time Zone also the Date aew set properly, Having it set incorrectly can cause this type of behaviºr. 3.- Test this WGA diagnose test, connection to MS, that scripts working and a new Validation tººl http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ 4.- Reboot into safe mºde Download CCleaner (for housekeeping) and Dial-ª-fix to the desktºp CCleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com Note, uncheck Yahoo toolbar during instªll. Do the scans with all the check marks ºn. Run the above cleaner remover in safe mode then CCleaner on all 3 settings(windows, apps & issues) and clear anything found reboot and see if it still exists. NOTE - The first time you run CCleaner's Issues scanner you'll have to keep running it back-to-back until it finds nºthing. One scenario is a registry key may only be a reference pointing to a completely different location in the registry and when it's removed then that reference link is also noticed as being invalid on a subsequent scªn. It's generally a good idea to keep running the Issues scan until nothing is listed. There is also a third-party fix which has had good results for a number of folks here: Dial-ª--Fix http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix Run this program with all the functions activated in safe mºde. Please read the page and Scroll down about 2/3 of the way to Download Dial-ª-fix Exit Safe Mode (Rebººt) Try the updates n0w You didn't say, or at least it's not clear, whether you tried getting the updates using Internet Explorer, by going here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Some new ActiveX software has to be installed on XP before your computer can be scanned. Just follow the prompts to do so, but it should then list and download the same updates, and install them, as those you see in the taskbar notificatiºn. If going to the site is successful, keep going back until there are no more critical updates to install. I hope this post is helpful. Let us know how it works ºut -- "Will" wrote: > my updates have stopped installing I have 94 and none will install but they > download fine. > can anyone help it is driving me nuts! > > also the second computer in the house has stopped installing them now?

You're on Windows XP and you've processed a "Repair Installation"? If true, you may want to download Windows Update Agent 3.0 manually via http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe *Save* the EXE into a folder, let's say "C:\Downloads". After the download completed, type the following exactly and including every quote and space under "Run" in the Start menu: "C:\Downloads\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce Hit the [Enter] key afterwards or click on "OK" to start the instal- lation.
