Recorded audio distorted and incomprehensible

I bought a new laptop recently. On the pc i used to use, i recorded audio through an audio interface, everything sounded fine. On the laptop, however, recorded audio sounds like compressed buzzing/noise. All the drivers are up to date, the audio interface works fine with other devices, recording through other inputs gives the same result.
