Guest Biggles Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Hi, An office PC running XP Professional had KB938829 installed and after rebooting got a blue screen stop:C0000221 with checksum error on gdi32.dll CHKDSK found nothing wrong when the system was booted from another partition, so I overwrote the c:/windows/system32/gdi32.dll dated 19.6.2007 with one from another update from August and the stop went away. Reloaded KB938829 again and the blue screen stop came back. The 19.6.2007 gdi32.dll was back. Repeated the fix and the problem went away again - it seems like this is a bad fix at least for one HP system, and a google search brings up 2 other similar cases from the last 24 hours - unfortunately written in Japanese. Hope this helps save a bit of time if anyone else has the same issue. Biggles
