Any way to delay Windows Hello when locking the computer?

When I lock via Win +L it immediately unlocks and stays unlocked when I walk away from my computer. I always have to do some acrobatics to lock it while out of view of the computer which seems silly. Is there no way to delay the unlock after locking?
