my windows wont activate

ive just reinstalled windows using the settings app, which is now exceptionally convoluted, and after the whole thing is finished i find that i cant setup all the sewttings as im not activated and it wont activate. ive owned windows for years, upgraded to 11 a year or more ago and now windows or microsoft have lost my product key. i thought they were supposed to be perpetualinteresting way to bully you into paying for a new keydont get this on machelp anyone, windows support seems to resemble screeming into the void with some telling you to just do these steps that didnt work the last 500 tim
