Guest The MooseMiester Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Windows update keeps trying over and over to install SP2 for Sql Server 2005 Express Edition, which I do not have. It then fails with error code 0x2B26. I wouldn't care about the wasted bandwidth and disk space, except that I have Windows Live One Care installed on this machine so every time I boot I have to deal with a nag message about my computer being at risk. I had Sql Server Express a while back. I uninstalled it through control panel. Uninstalls usually don't get rid of everything so I deleted the only reference to SQL Server Express I could find anywhere: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\SQL Server Express and all it's Children. It's still trying to update. Where is Windows Update looking to figure out what I have installed? Do-Gooders please don't tell me to reformat my hard drive, call Geek Squad, etc. I know you're hearts in the right place but if you don't have a specific answer to my question resist the urge to press POST. Thanks in Advance
Guest lurobamx Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Hey, you do not need to reformat or so. Go to microsoft update page do the personalized update. onece you see the update for sql server, expand the item clicking in the +, uncheck the update and check the box at the bottom of the description. You will have to wait until the automatic update finalize the last try to install the update. After it you will not see it again untill you go to microsft update and unhide it.
