Windows updates fail

I have Windows XP and signed up to get automatic updates, but they don't

work. When I try to download the safety updates manually via

http://www.update.microsoft.com, every update fails. What's wrong?

What's the error code you're receiving via Windows/Microsoft Update?

You may also have a look into the "windowsupdate.log" file to be found

in your Windows folder for error codes there.

You haven't done a Repair Installation of Windows XP lately, did you?

Why can't Microsoft just get it right so that I don't have to waste hours

sorting out their inefficiencies

No, you've just ranted. That's why me thinks you're not really looking for

a solution. If you would be, you'ld have provided informations.
