Guest hogyu Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I must confess, this error code is not cryptic at all. Congrats to MS. But it's not helpful, either. Boo! "Error 64C. Get help." Any suggestions as to what I should do now? Gateway Notebook, Vista Home Premium.

Guest hogyu Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Thanks. Now I'm baffled again, though. I'm still caught in the warp between XP's layout and Vista's, and I'm not sure if I'm just looking in the wrong place or if Vista is glitching on me.. "View update history" (from the menu in Windows Update) shows a dozen or so failures to install KB936181 after two successful installations of that patch on 8/15. Two. You can't uninstall updates from that window, so I went to Control Panel and then to "Installed Updates." That window is almost blank there are only two entries, "Security Update for CAPICOM from MS and an update from a resume-writing program I use. No sign of any of the many security patches. So I'm having trouble following the directions in the KB article on this problem. I can't find a place from which I can uninstall the update to start over. Appreciate any advice.
