Guest AR Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 This month my windows 2003 servers would not update. When trying it prompts to to install activex control Microsoft Windows Component then stalls eventually I get the the 0x8ddd0004 error. I have followed the link and confirmed that the ActiveX wu control is enabled in add ins. I have posted this previously but the reply could not be displayed. I manually applied the updates to the servers. I have not applied SP2 to Window 2003 servers. But they do have SP1 Thank you for your help
Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Try this ... open Internet Options in the Control Panel. Click the Programs tab, then the Manage Add-ons button Locate the WUWebControl add-on and click once on it to highlight it Now click the Update ActiveX button Did that get it updated ? Check in %windir%\system32 to see if wuweb.dll is now at Version 7.0.6000.381 MowGreen [MVP 2003-2007] =============== *-343-* FDNY Never Forgotten =============== AR wrote: > This month my windows 2003 servers would not update. Guest loc Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I have the same problem but I can not apply your solution because of I can not find out the "Update ActiveX" button. Besides, I found that my wuweb.dll are not the same version as yours. But I don't how to get update for this file (wuweb.dll). U know, I tried rename the file with the hope that I can update the new version online. but when I rename or delete it, the orther wuweb.dll replace imediately. What i should do?. Thanks "MowGreen [MVP]" wrote: > Try this ... open Internet Options in the Control Panel. > Click the Programs tab, then the Manage Add-ons button > Locate the WUWebControl add-on and click once on it to highlight it > Now click the Update ActiveX button > Did that get it updated ? > Check in %windir%\system32 to see if wuweb.dll is now at Version > 7.0.6000.381 > > MowGreen [MVP 2003-2007] > =============== > *-343-* FDNY > Never Forgotten > =============== > > > AR wrote: > > > This month my windows 2003 servers would not update.
