I can't seem to get this update installed.. I have Vista Home Premium... I've

tried to install it manually to no success.... I get the (ERROR CODE

8003731b) does anyone have a solution... cause I've been lookin at posts

everywhere and it seems I am not the only person to have update problems with

this code error with the all famous Vista

Try installing it manually AFTER *** totally disabling *** the installed

antivirus/security suite. Consult the Help file of said software or

visit the manufacturer's web site to learn how this is accommplished.

STRONGLY suggest that you disconnect the system from any network/net

connection *prior* to doing so.

Than *right* click the downloaded update and choose 'Run as administrator'.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation,

type the password, or click Allow.

If the update still fails to install, MS offers no charge support for

issues with Security updates

Re: failure to install Cumulative Security Update (KB937143) in Vi

I too had problems with this update failing to install correctly until I used

the method as described in my post 'Problematic Updates in Windows Vista',

also in this newsgroup. Having successfully installed this update, (and also

KB933566 and KB929123 which I also had problems with), I decided to share the

information in the above post to help others in a similar situation. For your

information, I use Norton Internet Security 2007, and I did not have to

change any settings when using this procedure.

Re: failure to install Cumulative Security Update (KB937143) in Vi

Thanks for posting this. However ... something is either truly amiss

with Vista's updating mechanism if you had to use the hidden Admin

account to get the updates installed OR, the installed security software

*might* be the cause of this behavior.

18 steps to get the Admin account visible, then run IE7 and Win Mail,

and then install the updates ?

That's ridiculous.

Did you ever attempt to completely and totally disable NIS 2007 first to

see if that was the cause of the installation issues ?
