See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936181 and the Known Issues section

there.

I tried following the instructions there ... removed the update in Control

Panel, but I wasn't allowed to delete the msxml4.dll file.

What can I try next?

The next steps mentioned in the MSKB article -)

| If the Msxml4.dll file is locked, the file may not be updated when

| you apply security update 936181. To work around this issue, use

| the following commands to uninstall Msxml4.dll:

|

| (1) MsiExec.exe /uninstall {37477865-A3F1-4772-AD43-AAFC6BCFF99F} /passive

| (2) Del %windir%\system32\msxml4.dll

You'll have to copy and paste the (1) and (2) command lines one after another

*without* the "(1)" and "(2)" into "Run" in the Start menu and hit [Enter] or

click on "OK" each time.

Afterwards you may whish to simply install the manual downloaded KB936181

which reinstalls MSXML4 *including* the security update then.

Bye,

Freudi
