Guest Karen Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Hi, I'm running XP-Home on a Toshiba Satellite A45-S121, which I've recently reformatted with the factory disk. I'm now unable to install SP2 as the "Power Saver" utility is messed-up and indicates I am running on battery (even when the battery is removed!). I've been unable to get the problem fixed or addressed by Toshiba, even though it's a known issue on OTHER models. So I'm wondering if there's any way to get SP2 through another means. Does anyone know if I can obtain it on disk or from a different source which doesn't have the "must be on AC" component? Thank you kindly, Karen BTW: I reformatted and updated this same way last April and did not have this problem. I really cannot afford the Vista upgrade at this time.
Guest ANONYMOUS Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 You need to try Windows update. Under this method, Windows will download all patches for you in small chunks using File Download Manager. I suggest reconfigure your system to "download all updates for me but let me choose when to install". To do this, you will need to launch Control Panel, Security Center, Automatic Updates. You will be without SP2 for few minutes!! when you go online. Have you got uptodate Virus protection on the system? Hope this helps.
