Guest Ron Sipherd Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I ran into a similar problem today with this update. The Updates Waiting shield came on in the notification area for "Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 (KB937061)". So I downloaded and installed it - successfully, according to the message. But the reminder won't go away. I rebooted. I reinstalled it and the notification went away until I rebooted again. The support info says it can be uninstalled via the Control Panel "Add or Remove Programs" but unlike other updates I see when I check "Show updates" this one does not appear, even though it does appear in the "Review your update history" within Windows Update. And the option to "Don't show this update again" is grayed out, so I can't hide it. (This is on Windows XP Home with SP2.)
Guest Ron Sipherd Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Aha - I think Eric Brodish's reply in a couple other threads on this subject answers my question. I'll wait a while for matters to sort themselves out.
Guest jeffareid Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I gave up and re-installed VS2005 to get around the problem. My issue was different, as the update was failing, not repeating itself.
