Guest Judy Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 During a Windows update I received an error message that the security update for Microsoft.Net.Framework Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729) failed to install. Error message # 80070643. I followed instructions to open Administrative tools--double click Services and look for Office Source Engine. I do not have an OSE in the list. Is this because I uninstalled the preinstalled Microsoft Office 3 Trial Version? I prefer WordPerfect. If so, how do I stop these updates from trying and failing? -- Judy
Guest valentino Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I am having failed errors when Vista is trying to update NET framework 1.1. But what exactly is NET framework 1.1? In remove programs, I have option to remove it. Can I remove it? Do I need it? if so, what for? Thank you "Judy" wrote: > During a Windows update I received an error message that the security update > for Microsoft.Net.Framework Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729) failed to > install. Guest TaurArian Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 RE: Security Update for Microsoft.NET.Framework Version 1.1 Servic Yes, Vista has Version 3 by default. Guest bogrod Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Hi - I hope that someone here could offer up some help in regard to the recent updates issue. I went to another site which advice recommended uninstalling Net Framework Version 1.1, and then re-installing and then once you then installed service pack 1, the new security update would load properly. Thing is, I was able to unistall and then reinstall 1.1 successfully, but now I can't even get the service pack 1, much less the new security update (which is labeled KB928366) to install. I hope that someone here can offer up a recommendation. -- bogrod ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bogrod's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=27942 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=781182 http://forums.techarena.in
Guest Judy Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Re: Security Update for Microsoft.NET.Framework Version 1.1 Servic The responses I received didn't help me so I contacted Microsoft support by email and was sent directions with links to uninstall and reinstall all Framework. To best uninstall I was sent a link to download a "cleanup tool" then links to reinstall and in which order to do so. The following is the address for the Microsoft Clean-Up Utility if you want to try that. http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/9/D/E9D80355-7AB4-45B8-80E8-983A48D5E1BD/msicuu2.exe Save to desktop and right click and "Run as Administrator". Follow instructions to install and then find the Framework software and uninstall. Restart the computer. From there you can redownload the Net.Framework and updates. -- Judy "bogrod" wrote: > > Hi - I hope that someone here could offer up some help in regard to the > recent updates issue. > > I went to another site which advice recommended uninstalling Net > Framework Version 1.1, and then re-installing and then once you then > installed service pack 1, the new security update would load properly. > > Thing is, I was able to unistall and then reinstall 1.1 successfully, > but now I can't even get the service pack 1, much less the new security > update (which is labeled KB928366) to install. > > I hope that someone here can offer up a recommendation. > > > -- > bogrod > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > bogrod's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=27942 > View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=781182 > > http://forums.techarena.in > >

I installed office 2007 after which Office source engine appeared. Still the security update for .Net framework fails to install with error code 80070643. I tried uninstalling .Net framework and reinstalling to no avail. All windows updates stopped working. I reinstalled Vista Home Premium and am back to square 1 - ie the update will not install and still I get the same error code. Anyone else with this problem managed to solve the problem?
