Guest Chris Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Hi TaurArian, Absolutely SPOT-ON right on the money, I can only assume it was caused by a recent power outage - it did however say that disc was clean - so presumably I didn't have to set it to skip the dirty bit? Incidently would you think that this may have corrupted the recent update KB935448 which continues to notify me that it needs to be installed even after having installed several times, and would this cause the RTHDCPL.EXE to not find and therefore START the HHCTRL.OCX whatever they are? MANY, MANY THANX FOR TAKING THE TIME TO REPLY REGARDS CHRIS. -- Nashyboyslim "TaurArian" wrote: > Some articles that may or may not assist - > > Check Disk - Disk Checking Runs Upon Boot > http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_c.htm#cd > > How Do I Prevent CHKDSK From Running Every Time My PC Starts > http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_prevent_chkdsk_from_run.htm > > > "Chris" wrote: > > > Hi peepes, > > can anyone help me - every time i turn pc on - i now get the blue screen > > telling me a disk check has bee schedulled - which takes couple of hours!!! > > > > I hadn't set this to occur - so does anyone know how to stop this - i've > > tried a "system restore" but no joy. Sometimes manually installing the updates helps. Have a read of the article above. Pleased the disk check problem has now been sorted.
