Guest Ming Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I have tried to install KB939159 many times but have failed to do so. The error code is 800736CC. I have searched the website but couldnt find any error codes similar to the on that i have got. Will anyone be able to help me?? thanks
Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 800736CC *might* mean ERROR_SXS_FILE_HASH_MISMATCH 14028 You could try running this update first to see if it resolves the error: An update is available to fix a Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) crash on a Windows Vista-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940520 OR, you can try the manual steps, listed as Method 1 and Method 2. If that doesn't resolve the error message, read on ... Which antivirus software is installed, Ming ? Suggest you completely and totally disable the AV for now. Consult the AV's Help file or visit the manufacturer's website to learn how to accomplish this. Download the update from here and save it: Windows Vista - 32 bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D8F9D963-5D01-411F-BBA2-B57FE0D4204C&displaylang=en Windows Vista - 64-bit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2ED66BB5-8496-4B45-8725-D58629950E69&displaylang=en When the download is finished close ALL open programs and browsers. *Right* click Windows6.0-KB939159-xXX.msu and choose "Run as administrator". When you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the administrator password, or click Continue. If it installs, then restart the system and REENABLE the AV. You might want to disconnect the system from any network/net connection after downloading the update and then reconnect after doing all of the above. Did that get it installed ?
