Hi, I have been trying to instal sp 2 for windows XP for several hours now.

Each time it goes the whole way through to backing up the old files an then

stops dead. It says that it needs 4 megabites to instal the update but there

is no room on the disk. This is on a clean 38GB partitian.

Please help!!

Please read : Preparing for installation

http://winhlp.com/WxSP2.htm#Preparing_for_installation

If you have any issues installing SP2, then read ' Cannot install

Service Pack 2' further down on the above page.

Also, suggest you download the entire SP2 package from here and save it

for future use:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A

Or, order the CD and just pay for shipping:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

It would behoove you to create a slipstreamed XP CD so that if in the

future the need arises to reinstall SP2 again it will be integrated into

the original XP CD. Read the ' How to create a slipstream CD ' heading

to learn how this is accomplished on the XP Problem Solver web page.
