Security Update for Windows Vista (KB935807)

Installation date: ‎11/‎07/‎2007 08:14

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 80070002

Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to

compromise your Windows-based system and gain control over it. You can help

protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you

install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

any advise here please

cheers for now

I get the same problem, I have run through all the troubleshooting steps

(rename software distribution folder, delete contenets of datastore/download

etc) same problem. Both from a WSUS 3 Server and web.

RE: Ditto here.....

Why does not MS post a solution for this failed update seeing so many people

are experiencing it?

This works, however, the WSUS server still shows I need an update - the

client has provided a status report after I did the update. So great for me,

not so great for my enterprise deployment -)

Hello,

I also carried out all the requests to solve the problem. And I installed

the corrective measure manually.

However, Windows Update always requires the update of me. I think that the

problem come certainly that Windows Update announces the corrective measure

for “Windows XPâ€. it is a problem of Microsoft.

While waiting, I have to decontaminate the automatic corrective measures.

If you have news, made the knowledge.

Still afflicted for my doubtful English, I am French.

Is ok, I'm Chinese too, also poor English.

Anyway at this moment I still waiting for the solution of this KN 935807

issue to be solve from MS, I also follow on some other forum / blog as well,

seem to be no one get it work for Vista. I was wondering whether is the

combination of 64Bits X2 processor with 32Bits Vista compitative problem.

To avoid / seeing the annoying "Update" I'm stoping the "windows Update"

under services for now on until I had some answer to solve this.

Good luck to ourself, ^^

TaurArian's solution works. Turn off automatic updates, delete all files

under Windows>SoftwareDistribution>Downloads and Datastore, and download the

update through the specific link in TaurArian's post. Than link can also be

navigated to by clicking up the update manager, clicking "view available

updates," un-checking the KB935807 download box, and double-clicking the text

to bring up the TechNet downloads webpage. Do not use the updates webpage.

I also renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder SDTemp per a knowledge base

article. Can't say for sure if that was relevant or not, since the problem

seems to reside with the update manager.

Well idd this works to bring the hotfix in but when u enable the WU

again it still tries to download the KB935807 and give you the popup

as usual. At least thats like i have it here.

Also: the downloadable installer is named: Update for Windows

(kb935807) and the online one which fails is named Update for Windows

Vista (kb935807). Maybe thats the reason why it keeps thinking it's

not installed? No real idea tho ..

Hmmm..... I tried again one more as step below:

1. Disable "Window Update" under services.

2. Rename "SoftwareDistribution" -> SDTemp12 (mean 12th time tried T_T).

3. Delete ALL in internet explorer.

4. Download manual installer in link from TaurArian [MS-MVP]

5. Delete ALL again in IE.

6. Double click and install the manual installer "Windows6.0-KB935807-x86".

7. Installing...

8. Request for restart in order the effect of the update.

9. So I clicked restart, system restart.

10. After boot on, windows is "Configuring Update".

11. After that it automatic reboot again.

12. After boot on, no more "Configuring Update", login to my system.

13, Kool, waited for 15 Min no complaint as before.

14, So I open window update again, saw that I never check for update, screen

in red.

15. Double check again for the "Installed Update".

16. It says KB935807 installed successful.

17. Check for update once more, bump!, it come up again...T_T.

18. So install again.... and again reboot and reboot...

19. So after serveral time I give up, now I right click "Hide Update" until

futher solution is coming up from MS.

20. So now my "Installed Update" had 1X success KB9350807 (Without

description Vista) and 2X failed KB935807 (With description Vista).

Don't rely on email support - supposed to have a turn around of ONE DAY - And

the rest - they don't have a clue and so don't respond to you - my PC is

still trying to download this update - even though I've switched AUTO UPDATE

off. Done all the advised solutions to the problem - none of them work.

Guess we'll just have to suffer until some Microsoft bod gets his act

together - so I won't be holding my breath waiting.

Go here -

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e9b64746-6afa-4a30-833d-e058e000c821&DisplayLang=en

Download and save to desktop - when downloaded double click the icon and

manually install the update - it will not stop the auto update saying it

still needs to be installed but it is there and installed if you check 'View

Update History' - so at least you know it's installed and working.

No credit to me - found the link by TaurArian (MS- MVP) - cheers dude

It shows up on that page but how come it does not show up on the "Installed

Updates" page?

Here a solution, not to have more of request for update.

1) To directly install the corrective measure since the site of ms

2) To carry out a search for update. Vista will indicate to you that

corrective measure KB935807 should be installed.

3) Click on “poster the updates availableâ€

4) Cocher corrective measure KB935807

5) right Button: “To mask the Updateâ€

6) Windows Update carry out a new search cycle of corrective measure and

will indicate to you that your system is up to date.

7) You can give Windows Update automatically.

I am using a WSUS 3 server, last night there was a revision to this patch and

today it has rolled out with no problem and no prompts for re update.

Those not using WSUS may want to try a windows update and follow Taurian's

process to ensure they ge tthe new update rather than any previously cached

one.
