when changing from vista to windows 7, what is the best method to use so I can retain my data.

when changing from vista to windows 7, what is the best way to remove the stuff you want to keep ? do I have to go through every folder on the computer ? the soft ware I have disc for I can just un-install, but the soft ware I bought and downloaded is what

I am concerned about. I know most od the time I downloaded to my download file, the when it was 'runned' it went to programs, do I have to get both parts ? or can I just get the original download ? how is the best way to keep music, videos, pictures and soft

ware, so I don't loose it when I do the clean install ?

 

also, I installed vista a couple times with out problems, is seven just as easy or is it harder ?
