Windows won't load properly after automatic update

Hi all,

 

 

My computer automatically installed an update last night. Now the computer won't load Windows properly. It takes a long time to get to the password screen, then when I enter my password it takes a very long time to load and then does not load all the startup programmes, won't connect to the internet and won't really let me do anything.

 

 

It works fine in safe mode although I tried to do a system restore and it said there was no restore point. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2

 

 

Any help would be much appreciated!
