Media Center-permanent install with 8 Pro or trial version? Very difficult to determine from Window

if I upgrade from 7 to 8 pro and have the Media Center code, does it install MC permanently or is it a trial period. This is very confusing on their website. Also, is there a charge if there is a trial period that expires???
