Administrators AWS Posted December 20, 2012 Administrators Posted December 20, 2012 I have a newish Toshiba Pro/P300 laptop that came with Vista but I, perhaps foolishly, had a 'genuine' copy of Windows 7 Home put on it. It worked fine for 2 years then it started crashing for the past month(to save the disk/data supposedly) daily but just recently it finally shut completely and gave the message below. I have attempted EVERYTHING to get into safe mode(cannot!) to get to the 'repair' window(cannot!). Tried F2, F8, F12 but it always comes back to this message and status code. I can get into Set-up screen(BIOS) and have changed the thing to 'Compatability' but it made no difference. Not sure if I can do anything else in set-up. I do have the Toshiba Product Recovery DVD-ROM, Satellite Pro/P300, Microsoft Windows XP Prof - BUT I am desparate to try to get the data back(especially on the desktop) before I try the XP disk, which I understand WILL LIKELY delete ALL data! If it in fact even works! Is this correct? Is there a 'repair' function in the recovery disk which will save my data? What can I try to recover the data? Should I get someone to make cd boot disk or something? Keep in mind I am virtually pc illiterate!! Hope someone can help...soon! Windows Boot Manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software chance miht be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings and click "Next." 3. Click "repair your computer."# Status: 0xc000000f Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. View the thread Quote
