I don't like Windows 8. Can someone explain how to get rid of it and can I get my money back?

Dear Community, I downloaded Windows 8 on the advice of an engineer who said it would make my PC work more efficiently. It seems to have deleted all my files and folders from my documents and my favourites area, I can't find anything. I paid £24.99 for the

download and would like to get my money back. Can anyone advise please?
