Emails disappearing after closing in my Windows Mail (Vista)

After I open an email in my Windows Mail (Vista) then close it, the next day when I look for it the email is gone. I looked in, &quotDelete,&quot &quotOut Box,&quot etc. They have just disappeared!????? Even on the same day/time if I see the email is there after closing

it, but then I click on &quotJunk Mail&quot for instance and then back to In Box the email has disappeared. When I realized this was happening I tried it 4 times with different odd ball emails and it happened everytime.
