pictures not opening " by date " in Vista

In my wife's Vista, when I open up a sub-folder in Pictures, I want it to automatically sort &quot by date&quot. I have &quot by date &quot selected in this sub-folder but it opens up &quot by name &quot and each time I have to wait for it to go through the process of sorting

&quot by date &quot. This situation does not occur in my Windows 7
