I have Windows Vista. In as effort to download Windows Live Mail, I tried to install Windows Live Essentials, however was advised I needed to install Windows Platform Update. When I clicked on Windows Update, it produced a box which asked me to check for

updates. I clicked on it and the following error message appeared &quotWindows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart the computer&quot. No amount of restarting would do it. How can I progress this, please?
