Why do I get notices of updates every time I turn off my computer?

For the last two weeks every time I turn off my computer (two or three times a day) I get notice that Microsoft is installing 3 updates. The notice says the updates are being installed and the computer turns off. Surely there can't be that many updates.

Is something wrong and is there something I can or should do?
