HOW DO YOU REPALCE THE WINDOWS Operating System (Vista) THAT YOU LOST IN REMOVING A VIRUS?

I contracted a virus called "The FBI" virus. While removing this virus I lost my operating system (WINDOWS VISTA) I was wanting to replace it. I do have the original Product Key. I also would like to know if I could upgrade it to say, Windos XP or Windows
