What is the most efficient way to install updates following a clean installation of Windows 7?

Hi

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1) x64 desktop PC that I plan to reformat and do a clean reinstallation of Windows 7. I have an original Windows 7 Home Premium full retail DVD box (one of the first that came out) and an original box with a Windows Anytime

Upgrade box to go from Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate.

I understand how to do the first step of a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium. What I would like to know is, from this point, what is the quickest/most efficient way to get to the point that I have a

fully updated Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1) x64 again. For example,

  • Does it matter/help whether I do the anytime upgrade immediately then update or vice versa?
  • Should/can I install SP1 immediately thereby cutting out a lot of the update cycles before SP1?

My system is:

[*]i7 (870) 2.93GHz

[*]8GB RAM

[*] 240GB SSD SATA3

[*]NVidia GeForce GTS450 1GB DDR5

[*]Asus P7P55D-E Motherboard

[*] Internet connection 7MB/s DSL

Thanks in advance.

P.S. After this is done I hope to image/clone the drive to minimize this in future.
