Unable to get updates for XP

[AWS]

Currently have XP running on an older HP destop computer.

I wish to get a (less older) Dell Inspirion desktop up &amp running.

I am trying to use the same XP disc (legally purchased) to do so but cannot get past the Windows Updates stage. I'm unable to get updates.

I am going to trash old HP computer once Dell is fully operational.

Pls help anybody.
