Administrators AWS Posted February 1, 2013 Administrators Posted February 1, 2013 Quoting my previous post: WINDOWS update KB2797687 failure error - 80073718 I have been trying to update my laptop with the above update but consistently get a failure notification. The update downloads and looks as if it is installing but then the error message comes up (code 80073718). I select the option 'get help with this error' which takes me to troubleshooting the updater ( I ran it as administrator). The troubleshooter found an error and repaired it so I tried to update again but yet again got the same error code and the update is still not installed. I have checked my internet connection in case something was interrupted but the connection is fine, I have tried both wifi and Ethernet. I have searched the Microsoft pages but can't find anything about this error. I installed windows 8 as an upgrade to Vista a couple of weeks ago. I still have the problem with installing KB2797687, every day I get the same failure message and my pc hasn't updated since 9.01.13. Yesterday I found a link to the windows download centre and downloaded my updates manually but still the 2797687 wouldn't install. It appears to be preventing any updates to install. I keep going through the same motions, troubleshooting, manually trying to install but nothing works. I shouldn't have to check the updates at the download centre at all. This is getting so frustrating. I know that I am not the only one with this problem judging by the amount of update questions there are. When is Microsoft going to fix it? View this thread
