No indication of inserting or removing headphone plug

Sir,

 

I am having the following problems with Windows 7 installed on my laptop for some days and I am not able to set it right :

 

1. No indication of inserting or removing head phone or microphone socket.

2. I am unable to "safely remove hardware and eject media. Nothing happens to the indication of usb device and it always shows ON.

 

Please help me by informing me on my email *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
