Can't install KB2789642 or KB2468871 despite repeated attempts, Fixit etc not resolve it

Seems to have occurred since changing permissions on C: drive last week (bad idea!). Have had issues with backup System Volume Information and managed to reset required permission for System so wondering if connected this but have no idea how to reslove
