I am unable to look at windows update.It tells me that it is not turned on and to log off and log ba

I go to Start&gtprograms&gt and select Windows update.I click on the 'check for updates box' and the next box says ''Windows Update cannot

currently check for updates because the service is not running.You may need to restart your computer.''

Restarting does not help.
