As my title would suggest, I am having a problem finding a solution to this error code. -Windows Vista home premium 64bit- Background, I am trying to install direct x11 so I can play this new game. Which should be installed with SP2, however "dxdiag" shows me that I still have 10. To my understanding I need "KB971512" (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4390), however it REFUSES to install. It will get to 99% and then say failed. -As far as I know I am up to date on all my drivers. -The only 2 updates I have for Windows update are "Windows Live Essentials 2011" and "Platform Update for Windows Vista x64-based systems (KB971644)" Both won't install -I have tried everything I could find: -Multiple "Fixit"s that say it fixed the problem however it still exist. -Everything listed here http://www.taurarian.mvps.org/WU_Vista/8000ffff.htm -I have done some virus scanning and as far as I can tell I am clean I've spent quite a bit of hours trying to figure this out, and finally have given up and deiced I need help!
