error 80070490 on Windows Vista

Hi,

 

For several days I have tried to correct and repair error 80070490 for windows update.

No luck. Microsoft Fixit and Hotfix tools have bee run and both tell me that Update components have been repaired. Still does not work !

- Window s update location has been changed and must be repaired - is still required.

 

Update files indicates that no updates have been downloaded and the check for updates is not responding. It worked so well until a few days ago

 

 

I have no recovery disc with Vista and pc refuses to perform a system restore to a backup. So what would be the next step ??
