I have been trying to down load a Vistas update "Microsoft.net Framework

Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729) and I keep receiving error message

00000643. I cannot download the update.

Has anyone experienced this and if so how were you able to correct it?

Thanks

I'm getting the same error, windows update downloads the file, but the

install fails all the time with error code 0x643. I seemed to correct this

issue by uninstalling framework from "Add Remove Programs" and re installing

it. I also found this link in the threads that may help you as well

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

Hope this helps

Cheers.

I also have had no problems with updates until this one. I tried the

uninstall and reinstall of framework to no avail. Funny thing is my desktop

with Vista Basic was no problem on this install however laptop with Vista

Home Premium is the one with the problem. I am lost at this point on what to

do.. Download was ok and 30 installs over two days have failed .. Only update

to fail so far in six months. Maybe someone will get the answer.

Thanks for trying to help me. Tried to delete the program and reinstall.

Could not delete it. Still cannot install the update. Went to the web site

and it stated that the program is already in the operating system. Back to

square one.

Go to uninstall and try to uninstall as much as possible. Then go to

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/08/406671.aspx and down load

this uninstall program to remove ALL of the program . Restart the program and

reinstall. You are done This drove me nuts
