I installed windows 8 updates and after rebooting the system won't load up. How do I get it to load?

If I turn the computer on it acts normal until the windows 8 logo comes up. After that the screen says 'please wait' and there's a loading symbol, but I've waited for hours and nothing changes, it's still showing the same screen. How can I fix this?
