I keep getting a blue banner across the screen asking me if I wanted to update to 8.1, I kept clicking remind me later just to get rid of it. Now I am getting the blue banner stating "finish updating to Windows 8.1" and my only options are to click ok or use the scroll down menu to choose 1 hour, 2 hour, or 4 hours to start the install. I DO NOT WANT WINDOWS 8.1 and cannot get rid of the update reminder! When the blue banner is present, the rest of my computer is inoperable and I have to reboot in order to get rid of the banner. I have tried numerous things I googled and none of them have worked. Would SO appreciate help on this! Moved from: Windows / Windows …

I was updating my HP laptop from windows 8 to 8.1 and during the update my laptop shut itself down due to a thermal issue. Upon trying to restart my computer it went to the HP boot up logo then goes to a black screen. I tried rebooting the system to a previous point but during the process the system froze up and after 5 hours I shut the computer down. Now when trying to boot up and select the system reboot screen it takes me to the HP logo as usual when the computer tries to load and then goes back to the black screen.
