Hello, I have ran into an issue with IE 10 on windows 7 and 8. Sometimes when I type something in address bar or try to find text using ctrl+f, it will only let me type in one character no matter how many times I go back to the bar. Here is a video that shows the issue... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHWXqam6LFk&feature=youtu.be This issue shows up on both a home built computer and my HP h8-1280t. I'm surprised no one else has made this an issue before. If anyone can help me out, that would be great. Mike View the full article

Hello, I'm not sure when this started, but for some reason I cant open file explorer windows. Things I have tried Unpinning it and repinning it to the task bar using the metro shortcut (win key + "file explorer) using metro shortcut and clicking open file location using the other metro options when you right click restarting restarting explorer.exe SFC /scannow or w/e, said there were no problems shortcuts on the desktop. The only thing that works is if i create a new flippin user account, which is annoying and not really a proper solution. What do? View the full article

Ever since I had this problem below, I can no longer install Windows Updates or any other software. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/6efbf453-aec3-4cfc-b6e0-de9dc5e6a99c/ Windows Update Error: 80073712 Windows Update ran into a problem I have tried the following troubleshooting. TRY 1: I ran the below suggestion, and it said my component store has been corrupted. Makes sense since I have deleted 60GB of files that create themselves every minute. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth Still corrupted. TRY 2: I ran 'Tap or click to open the Windows Update troubleshooter'. It s…

In my Start screen, my mail tile sits static because I don't use the built in mail client. Instead I'm using Outlook 2013 on my Windows 8 Pro. Is there a way to show email info i.e. number of unread emails, etc. from Outlook in that tile or is there an Outlook tile? The same question goes for Calendar info. Thanks, Sam View the full article

Windows Blue

Hi, Windows blue Is this true? Windows Blue will be faster, use less power, and run with a new, smaller kernel, version 6.3 (recall that Win8 runs kernel 6.2). The UI hasn't changed -- no Start button, no Aero. Windows Blue will support more screen scaling -- presumably for smaller (and larger?) screen sizes. There's some talk of "multi screen applications," although in the context it isn't clear if that refers to Metro apps. Not much change for PC and mouse users. - See more at: http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/windows-blue-rumors-fly-fast-and-furious-213510#sthash.oPKNDYua.dpuf http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-wind…

Hello, I would appreciate somebody´s advice for the following problem A few days ago suddenly after browsing Italian Election results J in trusted www sites like major media portals, newpapers, etc , my IE10 fonts and image sizes got totally messed up. Only alarming thing was that Yahoo.it asked me to allow Adobe Flash player to run / install somekind of add-on, which I thought would be harmless.. After realising the problem, I reset IE10, run CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware and Defender. No malwares or viruses. So far I have done everything what I can even think about to resolve the issue Even did a clean installation of Windows 8 Pro and updated BIOS without any luck. On…

I set up a Media Center pc. All that’s on it is Win 8 Pro with Media Center. It’s in my entertainment center and that’s all it’s used for. There’s one local account on it with administrator level access and it’s rebooted only every week or two. The other day I tried to reset the time and got an access error. I had lost my administrator privileges on my local account. I started CMD with administrator privileges and ran net user administrator /active:yes. When I signed in as administrator I was able to set the time but when I tried to access another account in User Accounts it wouldn’t let me. So I can’t reset the local account to give administrator access even with the h…

It appears that Windows 8 has broken the taskkill command in part at least (actually, I think it is more likely a broken ability to set the debug attribute, which in prior Windows versions allowed taskkill to kill programs even if in a different security context but I don't know exactly how to test that or prove my hypothesis). When attempting to kill a process that is hung on exit (e.g., attempted a normal exit from the program, but it hangs and fails to exit, and continues to consume system resources), there appears to be no way to terminate the application/service, and an "access denied" error is generated even though run from the administrator comma…

I have windows 8 and I use the task scheduler a lot to start programs for me, but now when I try to schedule a task a prompt comes up and ask me what app do I want to use to execute the task. I'm wondering why did Windows change the windows task scheduler? Is there a way to have it like the way it was in Windows Vista? Just want to know if the task scheduler in windows 8 only works with apps? View the full article

Inplace upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro. This is an always running home computer. When I click lockscreen, there is no logon screen. It is just blank screen (with the chosen background color). I can still remote desktop logon from another computer. And, after I have remote logged on, then the local logon screen appears. So, every day or other day, I have to remote desktop logon so I can use it locally. I do not want to re-install everything again. View the full article

I have a USB 3.0 external drive an want to connect it with 'X' as drive letter. I know how to assign a static drive letter to a USB Drive by The Computer Management and Disk Management but the drive loses the assigned letter of 'X' and gets the first unassigned letter randomly, after reboot or after reconnecting the drive. I can also tell that the same drive keeps its letter under Windows 7 and a USB 2.0 pendrive keeps its letter under Windows 8. In other Words, it seems to be Windows 8 with USB 3.0 that results in lost of assigned drive letter. Does anyone have an idea of what it may be due to, please? Senki Alfonz View the full article

Recently Purchased a laptop with windows 8 on it. I wanted to Install the RSAT for Windows 8 tools but when I try it tells me the version of windows i am using is not supported. I am running x64 but I have tried downloading the x86 and still no luck. Windows update says there are no more updates available. My current guess is that it is because I am not using Windows 8 Pro, but I would like to confirm that will fix my problem before I spend $100. View the full article
