Hi. I am wondering if it is LEGAL to go back to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 8. I am not talking about the consumer preview, but about the final release since October 25. I have a laptop by HP, with pre-installed Windows 7. Can I simply restore Windows 7 and go on without a reactivation? How would that work? And what would happen to the upgrade disk of Windows 8? I do have an image of windows 7 to reinstall. I am not worried about windows.old folder. Just wondering about the legality of the process. View the thread

I'm having an issue with the Windows 8 remote desktop metro app. When I login to servers I'm unable to type using the onscreen keyboard. It doesn't pop up when I click on anything. Anyone seen this issue or found a solution?Vincent Sprague View the full article

I ran a full restore on my Lap top. Windows Vista. Lap top approx 2-1/2 years old. Since doing this I have lost the ability to transfer photos from my memory card to my file on the computer. The Auto Play does not come in, in the task bar anymore. This happened once before after a restore and I took Laptop to a specialist which cost me money. I would like to think that you may be able to help me with step by step instructions to get it back. Using ADSL-2 Wi Fi. (32 bit). I hope I have described what's happening OK. Can anyone tell me how to connect my playstation 3 to my PC to update it's software, had it since 2008 and never updated it so now I cannot play the new games. Sony say's to download the updates to a thumb drive and then start my PC in safe mode, others say just to plug it in via usb to the modem router combo, have the same problem with my Sony Bravia TVs and blue ray players, have one 46" TV and one 55" TV, Contacted Sony before about this and used the disc method but it never worked. I do not want to play online, just connect via HDMI cable to my TV and play my move and other games. View the thread

The WindowsUpdate for Windows 7 doesn't function properly, I have set it to automatically update, performed a computer new start and 30 minutes later there is a PC-Problem saying that WindowsUpdate is deactivated. I have also attempted thru services.msc and then I get a error code 0x8007277a and the process is discontinued. I need help, who can help me? View this thread

upgraded to windows 8 and am happy with that, also many useful apps one of which the aforementioned multimedia 8 .it has captured all my installed music and displays all well complete with album covers and each individual song title .....but the screen goes black when a record is selected ,,nothing will play ??what do I need to get this app to work well ?? Hi I have recently upgraded my PC to windows 8, but unable to access a number of the titles, apart from IE & MAP. I get no error message or connect issues (can access internet via desktop). All titles load and I get the screen change & dotted circle but none of the tiles load beyond that point. This is a new upgrade and I have been unable to get these elements to work at all. I keep getting the same updates installing every time I shut down the computer. I dont get any error messages and they seem to install fine each time. They are the following security updates: KB 2604121,KB2656368,KB2686827,KB2729449,KB2737019. I tried using the "Fix It" program and it did fix some things but the updates still continue to install every time I shut down. Any help would be appreciated. View this thread

Should the updates take so long. I am unable to use my laptop when updates are being installed. The updates are getting stuck at 13% and I cant reboot the system. Very frustrating. Would be grateful of your advise. View this thread

I am Andrew Rozentsvayg, an electronical engineer. In early October, I bought a Samsung laptop NP350V5C CPU i-7 3610QM, RAM 8GB (DDR3) with Windows 7. I installed the necessary software and had no problems. But it had hardware problems and laptop was replaced by a similar but with Windows 8. Now I have other problems - many professional programs are not working properly or immediately generate an error and closes (Xilinx design tools).Control Panel option works under Windows 7 not successful. In addition - the option of the two systems (+ Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) is not working. In this regard, please provide me the option for reinstalling and use of Windows 7. View this thread

My son somehow relocated my taskbar from the bottom of my laptop screen to the left side of the screen. I am currently downloading a different version of anti-virus software than the 30 day trial that was provided with my new computer. However, I haven't been able to as there is still some trace of the old program on the computer. I have uninstalled all components of the program from the control panel but want to check the registry to make sure that everything has been removed. 1. How do I get to the registry? 2. Hi, A couple of days ago certain apps stopped opening including store. I don't get any errors just the splash screen opens with the logo and closes again. I've tried changing the UAC settings, disabling AVAST, there isn't a problem with the screen resolution.Don't want to have to do a clean install and that will just be a hassle. I've also tried refresh but my laptop doesn't seem to refresh windows 8. It gets to the point where it asks me to insert the media with the installation file which I do but then it says it can't verify it. Anyone got any other suggestions? I have a new Asus Republic of Gamers laptop and immediately upgraded to Windows 8 . I downloaded a few programs and just ran the sigverif.exe program , which shows all my drivers are signed . However , I've been getting this error message consistently on boot up . Restarting the laptop takes forever , programs are running very slowly and my wifi keeps turning itself off , even though connections are available . There are no viruses on the computer either . I am not terribly tech savvy and most responses to similar posts have either been specific to other Windows versions , skipped steps in the troubleshooting process (for example, how do I effect a &quotminidump&quot and where is the corresponding log file stored?) , or else have been too technical for me to follow .
