Media Center Woes

A

Anth

I'm based in the UK and using a DVB-S card in conjunction with Windows7

Media Center Home Premium, I want to completely remove all of the existing

channels and reset everything back to how it was, however I can't seem to

find any option for doing this, as even going through the whole procedure of

a full rescan doesn't put WMC back into its original default condition.

I also have a DVB-T card installed in my PC as well and the problem with

that is that Windows continuously wants to be buggering around with the

existing channel configuration by automatically adding any new channels that

it finds (ditto with satellite, that's why I want to start again from

scratch) this has now become a real pain, as my part of the country is in

the middle of analogue shutdown and some transmitters are swapping

multiplexes and upping their existing digital output power by as much as ten

times, this means that there are now lots of extra duplicated and different

regional programmes arriving from various sources, which I don't want, I'd

like it to 'ask' first and give 'me' the option of installing any newly

found channels, any advice about how I can reconfigure WMC to eliminate the

above annoyances would be most welcome. TIA

I don't use Media Center myself but Googling found this, which may help:

Thanks Dave, but that only allows one to edit or disable type channels, not

put WMC back to its original default condition, however searching the web I

have now found a way of actually doing this

although it does seem a rather involved (especially for the uninitiated) way

of having to go about things, especially as IMV, it would appear to be far

more logical to simply have a system 'reset' option in the main menu, just

as with a Freeview or Freesat receiver.

Instead of messing about stopping services and processes via task manager it may

be easier to boot the computer into safe mode and then delete the database files.

I don't think anything relating to Windows Media Center would be loaded in safe mode.
