Windows 8 Power_Driver_State_Failure message

I have a new Asus Republic of Gamers laptop and immediately upgraded to Windows 8 . I downloaded a few programs and just ran the sigverif.exe program , which shows all my drivers are signed . However , I've been getting this error message consistently
on boot up . Restarting the laptop takes forever , programs are running very slowly and my wifi keeps turning itself off , even though connections are available . There are no viruses on the computer either . I am not terribly tech savvy and most responses
to similar posts have either been specific to other Windows versions , skipped steps in the troubleshooting process (for example, how do I effect a &quotminidump&quot and where is the corresponding log file stored?) , or else have been too technical for me to follow
. Any assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated . Thanks!
