Under Applications, I only have Saved Form Information not ticked, the
same for Windows along with none of the Advanced list ticked. I also put
cookies in the don't remove pane that I don't want removed. I always
back up any registry issues that I remove.
In addition to CCleaner, I use SystemSuite5's (formerly Ontrack)
registry fixer and only remove the ones that SystemSuite5 recommends.
SystemSuite does its own backup without user intervention. After an
install of XP SP2 and Office 2000, I literally remove HUNDREDS of
registry entries. I also use its registry defrag. Note, I only use these
two apps right after a reboot.
I have never, ever, had a problem due to using these two apps and it
does speed up the computer, regardless of the false information out
there that XP's registry should be just left alone.
