Need to format computer with windows vista but don't have CD

I'm trying to donate my 2010 laptop and want to erase all content. Unfortunately I'm still running on Vista and I can't format without the CD - tried every single method but most end up in error.

What's the best solution for getting something I can boot the system on and format?

Any other suggestions?
