Ready to uninstall Vista... BSOD hell

I agree that it's a software problem. I remind you that Vista is a piece of
software. My fundamental anger is that if two HUGE organisations like
Microsoft and HP/Compaq can't get their act together enough so that a brand
new computer will run in a manner reliable enough for production use, then
there's not much hope left.

I've been a Microsoft fan ever since the first IBM-PC came out with MS-DOS
(yes, I'm that old). Until now I've always derided the claims of the Apple
fanatics. But now... I'm thinking that if the same company makes both
hardware and operating system then it's likely they might have gotten it
right and there's only one company to blame.

I'm a pretty computer-literate person (been involved in multimedia since
those days of the Apple II and IBM-PC Mark 1), but I'm unable to resolve this
problem. What then, for the hordes of average users who just want a reliable
computer but don't know much about its innards?

Girrlkitty:

Just realised that I've cross-posted to your discussion thread on the
Mozilla forums.

I haven't yet uninstalled Vista (though it's going to happen, believe me, as
soon as I get time).

But I am starting to get the feeling that maybe Firefox triggers the BSOD
problem. But on the other hand, I spend a lot of time in Firefox, so maybe
it's a coincidence.

Best of luck!

Regards,

David
