We have a customer that had a Windows 2016 Essentials Server installed. Their business grew much more rapidly than they had expected and we had to transition their Essentials license to standard when they exceeded 25 users.
At the time we left the essentials role in place as there was no reason to remove it and it has some nice features which the business used.
The business has continued to grow and we are now approaching the Essentials role limits and will have to remove it in the near future. We have done a test removal on a restored backup and everything seems to be ok but we would like to keep or reinstate the Office 365 password sync functionality of the essentials role.
Are we correct in thinking that once the essentials role has been removed we can install and configure Microsoft Azure Active Directory Connect to reproduce this functionality?
Thanks
Geoff
