Tax software for Win 9x/ME

O

O.J. Newman

Hello:

I have been trying to respond to a request about tax software for Win 9x/ME.
While other posts and replies have made it to this newsgroup, my attempts to
post replies and new posts about this subject with a recommendation have not
worked. So I'm going to try yet again, but with a slightly different
approach. Instead of explicitly naming the tax software, I will break the
name down into 2 parts to see if this message will post.

There is a tax software that still supports Win 9x/ME. Do a Google (or other
engine) search for: tax act. This should point you to the correct web site.
This software is the #3 tax package behind the 2 more popular names.

You are not alone in your quest, OJ, my reply(s) wouldn't show either.
But then I figured: there must be a reason <bg>.
Hope the OP gets relief from your post.
OTH he doesn't have to be reluctant to try his version out on WinME, it will
let him know,
should it not accept it.

Harry.

Hi Harry!

It almost seems that the actual name or web address of "tax act" was being
blocked for some reason. I tried about 6 times to reply to the original post
by MrTom asking for this information, as well as starting a new thread a
couple of times. But all of my posts about this tax package were rejected.
All of my other posts came through fine. And MrTom was able to post a
message containing the name of the top 2 tax packages. It was only when I
hit upon the idea of writing "tax act" as 2 words instead of one name or web
address that I was able to get my post to show up!

Very odd!

Cheers!

O.J.

Hello:

Still confused why my earlier posts and those of Harry did not show up, but
oh well ....

And my cousin, Alfred E. continues to do well, thanks for asking <g>.

Cheers,
O.J.

Good to see you have a sense of humor (humour, in case you are in the UK),
O.J. You really need one to play in this sandbox!!!
Heirloom, old and I still think you are
guilty, oops, er, uh, no, that was Simpson

MrTom

O.J.,

Thanks to you and others for commenting on my previously unanswered post
on tax software for ME. I was beginning to wonder if all the other
participants in this newsgroup were from Canada or the U.K., or just
choose not to pay U.S. income tax.

My hope was that someone had obtained TaxCut and, contrary to the TaxCut
website, it actually ran on ME. I don't have the current TaxCut. In
the past I have inadvertently purchased (and still have) software that
does not run on ME, so now I am a bit more careful. My preference for
TaxCut is because I could then import data from my 2006 return because
that was prepared using TaxCut.

I did find TaxAct (or should I say T a x A c t) but, alas, TaxAct will
not import a TaxCut return. Thus, my return would be a little more work.

This increasing software incompatibility with ME is the only reason I
would switch from ME to Vista.

Thank you all for your replies.

Tom

You were mostly right above. Several from England, and two of us from
Canada.

Gee, can you *choose* NOT to pay income tax in the US?? (grin)
